Santa's Planning a Breakaway Strategy

Meanwhile at the North Pole

On the 7th day of Christmas, Bernard arrives at the workshop with a bit of trepidation.
He had received a text message the night before from Sparkles saying a large number of her team wanted to transfer departments!

Sparkles is the team elf in the electronic toys division, which is known to be the most demanding department.
If most of the elves transferred, it would take a while to get new elves up to speed.
That means video games, Tablets and eReaders might not make it under the Christmas tree this year! Bernard quickly runs to his computer and writes Santa a quick note.

Santa's Reply to Bernard

”Dear Bernard,

Nice to hear from you again!
I dusted off my old skates today and took them for a spin on the pond. Did you know I used to play center on the North Pole Polar Bears hockey team? It’s true, I used to dominate the rink.

My nickname used to be ‘Christmas Light, The Lamp, Santa’!
That’s actually when I started growing my playoff beard 🙂

If the elves want to transfer departments, you can’t force them to stay!
They are free to make their own decisions. I have a feeling that the extra pressure coming from using the new technology is probably to blame here.

What I would suggest is working with Sparkles and having her see how the senior elves can support junior elves in their tasks.
Perhaps they can give some tips on how to speed up the production line!

I imagine that having senior elves tutor junior elves would allow us to transfer the knowledge throughout the department and make everybody feel more comfortable with the new technology!

In the meantime, keep up the great work!

Ps. Here is a picture of me on the ice, I need to keep practicing my figure 8’s and double axles.”
