Day Four: A Workshop Mishap
Santa decides to modernize things to enjoy some free time.
He leaves his Head Elf Bernard in charge of implementing new automation at the North Pole….But changing well-established processes is not that easy.

Santa's Having a Great Breakfast
Meanwhile at the North Pole
The elves are slowly getting used to the new XRP (Christmas Resource Planning) software thanks to Santa’s advice and Bernard’s support.
Usually, the elves work in small teams and report to their team elf, who has weekly meetings with Bernard to keep track on the toy making progress.
The teams seldomly collaborate with each other, for instance, the teddy bear team would never cross paths with the Barbie team - that would create an odd-looking doll.
But on this day in the workshop, Bernard finds some teddy bear heads being put on Barbie bodies! Why would this happen?
Bernard takes a look at the internal dialogue between the teams and realizes that the elves didn’t use standard processes in the new software solution and all went for a different approach instead.
Once again, he writes to Santa to find out what he can do to fix this.
Santa's Reply to Bernard
After a long day of chopping down the candy cane tree yesterday, I decided that today I would sit down and have a nice piece of pumpkin pie with some milk, my favorite!
Regarding the Barbie/teddy bear mishap, that sounds like a mess! But you should know, this is a common occurrence when implementing new processes and switching to new software!
Actually, it is a good thing that we caught this now before Christmas, could you imagine what would happen if we delivered the toys this way?
The children would not be happy, and neither would the parents!
The bottom line is - mistakes will happen, but as long as we align the teams before Christmas, we are on track for success!
We need to find a way to make sure that ALL the elves use their new tools in the same way. I’m going to brainstorm ideas. But the point is...we have to standardize processes at the North Pole to avoid confusion and delays.
Now let’s get those dolls assembled 🙂
